counselor

George Bush announced Ed Gillespie as his senior counselor today. The previous counselor, who is in charge of making long term plans and strategies for the president, may not have been doing that great a job seeing as how GWB has no visible long term plan or strategy.

Repeatedly denying there's a problem isn't within the conventional meaning of 'strategy,' but I guess that's what you get sometimes. Hopefully Gillespie will do better than the previous counselor, who announced that he was planning to retire to spend more times with his wife and sons. 'Spend time with family' is the official Republican cover story for 'leave in shame because either Bush needed a scapegoat or person wasn't good at job.' It's the 'left the company to pursue other opportunities' of the political service.
